Winter Harbor Children’s
House
Montessori Multiage Program
Established in 1991
Program runs Monday through Friday, September
through May.
We have been serving families with children
from three through six years of age for over seventeen years.
The Staff includes owner and teacher Tobee Labbe,
assisted by Amy Wolff, who has been teaching at Winter Harbor for
five years, and Anne Marie Craven, who has been teaching at Winter
Harbor for fourteen years. Tobee, Amy and Anne Marie are each fully
trained Montessori teachers. We all work in partnership
with parents during the early childhood years.
In addition to the core Montessori Curriculum
of Practical Life, Sensorial, Language Arts and Math we also
offer:
- Science
- Nutrition
- Calendar and Seasons
- Geography
- Studies of Diverse Cultures
- History through Story Telling
- Art Studio
- Art Theory
- Art History
- Music Appreciation and Movement
- French: Anne Marie introduces French through lessons,
games, cooking, singing, dance and Yoga on Fridays. During
the rest of the week children choose from two shelving units
filled with French materials.
- We offer an integrated focus on Peace Education throughout
the year.
- Fire Safety is taught and practiced each month plus we
visit the Biddeford Fire Station in the fall.
- At least three curriculum enhanced field trips are arranged
during each school year.
- Each teacher offers enlightened support and guidance
to every child as they develop emotionally and begin to
practice and refine their social skills.
